The Politics

To describe a bands sound is damn near impossible nowadays, we have genres and sub genres, a mix of this, a mix of that. One thing is for certain Austin’s own The Politics bring a batch of flavor even your grandma can’t cook up. It turns out these guys have begun to create quite a buzz down in the heart of Texas. I have been following these guys on My Space for sometime now and have had a chance to catch some of their songs from their forthcoming full-length album due out in December. Being a DJ you always: as the cliché goes “dig the crates” to find that one gem that will get the dance-floor bumping, well The Politics certainly serve up a Texas-sized plate of goodness. With shredding guitars, funky bass-lines and the splish-splash of the high-hats it is safe to say that The Politics are surely a band to be reckoned with. One particular track that stands out to me would be Thief, talk about a rollercoaster of sound, it starts off as a very Interpol influenced intro, stops, goes into a frenzy of something you would hear from System of A Down, then all hell breaks lose when Patrick takes the mic. That type of sound is what sets these guys apart from the rest. The Politics are currently playing some club dates around Texas, be sure to catch them tomorrow in Austin at Trophy’s with Briertone.. Also be sure to check them out on My Space. Standout tracks include Thief, Backseat Shakedown. The Politics are Patrick Gonzales (vocals, guitar), Andrew Campbell (bass), and Steve Gonzales (drums).
