Jelly Presents: The Pool Parties

full_schedule

One of my most memorable experiences of last year was attending one of the Pool Parties at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn. I had a chance to take in performances by Black Moth Super Rainbow, The Ting Tings, and hometown band MGMT. Check out the pics here.

The Crowd at McCarren Pool
Brooklyn, Summer 2006 - 2008: On any given Sunday, you could cruise in, FREE of charge, and see artists ranging from TV on the Radio to The Breeders to Les Savy Fav. Between bands? Play dodgeball, or beat the heat by launching yourself down the giant inflatable slip n' slide. The Jelly Pool Parties were the ultimate round peg. Which is to say: No squares allowed! Get it?

Now in its fourth year, JELLY is proud to announce that 2009 marks a new beginning for what has become a stalwart summer destination for New Yorkers seeking unbridled sun-kissed revelry. There's a new locale: the Williamsburg Waterfront (aka East River State Park, 90 Kent Ave. @ N9th, Brooklyn). Yeah, McCarren closed, moment of silence, but we're UBER stoked to be on the Waterfront for the following reasons: the “Pool Parties” will now actually have a body of water nearby, and *gasp* is that a view of the Empire State? Not to mention, the capacity is larger, as are the artists, which, all totaled -carry the two - equals a summer that will Knock. Your. Socks off.
For eight consecutive Sundays in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (July 12th – August 30th), party-goers will be regaled with on-site dodgeball, three-on-three basketball, and, oh yeah, rip-roarin' live performances on the main stage. And best of all, it's all STILL FREE. We swear. Seriously?? STILL FREE. Come on, really? No kidding!

Bang your pots and sound the alarms. The pool parties are back. And hey-la hey-la, they're better than ever. Full artist lineup below. Honestly, FREE? Yes!
